Morgoed Estates (MEL) is committed to ensuring that personal data held by it is managed in a responsible way. This Privacy Policy sets out the way that personal data collected by or submitted to MEL will be managed. Different policies apply to tenants of MEL and to all other users. These differences are highlighted below.

1. Definitions

“MEL” is defined as Morgoed Estates Limited, its directors, employees and agents and any associated company and the directors, employees and agents of that associated company.

“We” is defined as MEL

“You” is defined as any user of the website, either tenants of MEL or any other user or all other users

“Your information”/ “your details” are defined as personal information submitted to and held by MEL via whatever means.

“Tenant/s of MEL” are defined as those who have any legal, equitable or potential interest in any property in which MEL also has a legal, equitable or potential interest.

“Potential interest” is defined as being a future or possible interest in a property and also includes situations where MEL is acting as an agent for a third party or where MEL is in the process of purchasing a property or enquiring about the purchase of a property.

“Any other user” / “All other users” are defined as those who have no legal, equitable or potential interest in any property in which MEL has a legal, equitable or potential interest.

“Property databases” are defined as any means of storing data either in electronic or paper format or otherwise about properties in which MEL has an interest or about the tenants, current, former or potential, of MEL for the purposes of the legal, equitable or potential interests of MEL.

“Marketing databases” are defined as any means of storing data either in electronic or paper format for purposes other than a property database

2. Cookies

The website may use cookies (small files containing information about you which are stored on your hard drive by our browser). These cookies will only be used to monitor the performance and traffic of the website and to ensure fair and proper use of the website.

3. Email

By using email to communicate with MEL, you are consenting to MEL storing your email address on either a property database or a marketing database

4. Telephone, fax and postal communication

Fax and postal communications to us from tenants of MEL may be held on a property database or a marketing database.

5. The Payments form

All information (except credit and debit card details) submitted through the payments form on this website will be stored on a property database. Credit and debit card details are not retained by MEL. Card payments are processed by Sage Pay Europe Limited. Please see https://www.sagepay.co.uk/ for their terms and conditions.

MEL will not record telephone calls without first informing you that the call will be recorded. Recordings of telephone calls may be held on a property database or a marketing database.

6. Where we store your information

If you are a tenant of MEL we reserve the right to hold your details, whether supplied through this website or otherwise, on a property database.

Information submitted to us by all other users may be held on a marketing database.

7. Using your information

MEL will use information held on a property database for all reasonable business purposes, which for the avoidance of doubt includes the collection of rents and sale of properties owned by MEL

MEL will not use information held on a marketing database for any purpose, including unsolicited correspondence, without first obtaining your consent. However, if you have contacted us in regard to any specific matter, we shall imply your consent to respond.

8. Sharing your information

MEL will not without your express consent share any of your details with any third party except the following:

1.            statutory bodies with reasonable or lawful grounds to view your details

2.            our appointed agents and professional advisors

3.            solicitors and other conveyancers or legal professionals on them confirming instructions to act on your behalf

4.            any third parties who have a legal right to view your details or who may do so as a result of legal process;

5.            any potential purchasers of properties owned by MEL, but only on a confidential basis.

9. Altering your information

It is possible to change any of your details by contacting us through any of the means of communication on the Contact Us page of this website. In the case of changes of addresses for service, we reserve the right to ask for requested to be made in writing as required by section 166(6) of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.

10. Asking us to remove your details

We reserve the right to hold all details of tenants of MEL on our property databases to enforce our legal, equitable and potential interests for as long as is necessary.

We will remove your details from any marketing database on request.
